Mercator K55 Cat Knife

I am in search of a supplier (reasonably priced) for the Mercator K55 Cat Knife. I need a replacement, mine has seen better days.
 
Atlanta Cutlery used to carry them.
I still have the one I ordered out of the back of a magazine in 1968.
I paid $1.98 for it and they mailed it to me in Vietnam.
 
Check out Levines forum and do a search about a year or so ago and you will find a fascinating thread about the Mercator with pictures of the factory.

Hmm? Interesting..

I can't add any more info as I've searched unsuccessfully on the net.

But, I purchased my Cat knife some 17 years ago from Atlanta Cutlery as well. I carried it with me quite a bit and it saw a lot of use (strictly domestic stuff like cutting boxes, rope and fruit etc..).

Anyhow I eventually blued the blade and its now in my tool box in the garage where it gets as much use as it did before. Unfortunately its not as pretty as it once was as all of the paint on the handle is bubbling off from rust, don't worry, the blade's in awesome shape.. One day I plan to give it some care and fully restore it with a cold blueing..

Wonderful knife however I'd love to have one with a brass handle and I'd blue the blade right away to keep the rust at bay.

Check out Atlanta Cutlery ; they had some in stock at last
check ( about a month ago ). Failing that Blade magazine
has ads for them every now and again. I'll check my other source(s)
and let you know.
