Here's a new one based on a design by a west coast big city SWAT team member, finished in artistic style: Mercurius Magnum

Blade: 440C High Chromium Martensitic Stainless Tool Steel, Hardened and Tempered to Rockwell C58, Mirror Polished
Bolsters, Fittings: 304 Austenitic Stainless Steel, Hand-engraved
Handle: Australian Snakeskin Jasper Gemstone
Sheath: Hand-carved Leather inlaid with Stingray skin

Jay, it could just be the photo, but it looks like the sheath edges suffered a little color loss in the finishing. If so, try 400 or 600 grit paper and hand sand then apply more dye and when completley dry, buff and burnish with gum tragacanth. Black is a PITA on the edges.

That intricate inlay is a knock out!

Hi, Paul. Thanks for the hint, but the mottled black-brown look is what I was going for. Sometimes, completely eliminating the natural color of leather makes the sheath look a bit ... unnatural and plastic; I'm sure you know what I mean. Though it doesn't show much in the photo, the sheath front is not a jet black, and has hints of brown.
