Here are some first impressions of the Mercworx Seraphym and Proeliator.
Mercworx offers most of their knives in CPM 154 and S30V versions (S30V is an extra $50). Both of the knives I'm going to be discussing are S30V, but they are cosmetically identical to the CPM 154 versions. All their knives are advertised as "cyrogenically treated", as well as being patented (though I'm not quite sure what means). The Seraphym and Proeliator both have an RC of 58. And, without question, they both have a very high level of build quality and finish.
The Seraphym is a handsome push dagger, and about as thick as they come at 1/4", with a full tang design. The double bladed 3" edge is sharp as hell right from the factory. Designed to be a close quarters, palm-sized chainsaw. The Seraphym is a compact 5" overall. The 2" wide micarta handle fits well in the hand, and provides a positive, sure grip. The kydex sheath is a nice piece of work, with a belt attachment and neck cord.
The Proeliator has a full tang, 9 1/4" blade (14 1/2" overall). While longer than the Equatorian, the Proeliator has a leaner profile and handle. The big recurve blade, better than a 1/4" thick, is satin finished, with a full quarter sharpened edge on the back side. A choil on the front side of the blade allows for choking up and performing more precise cuts. An angled thumb rest on back edge of the spine near the top of the handle helps control the knife. Mercworx did a great job with the balance and and weight on this one; for a long blade, it feels lively and light. The fat "chili pepper" micarta handle is very comfortable. The low ride cordura sheath has a rigid plastic internal liner, which snugly fits the Proeliator, with a small top pouch.
My experience with Mercworx products has been very positive, and I would recommend them as high quality, well-designed, tough-ass knives.
