Hi all,

Been lurking for a while so firstly, thanks for all the info, it helped me decide on a replacement for my trusty 14 year old Gerber 475. I just recently purchased a Fallkniven S1 with a Mercworx sheath.

Now I love the combo but the mercworx sheath is just a little over sized for the S1 (the sheath is the small sized with the "Kydex" insert, which looks like a bit of cheap folded plastic to me...) . It rattles around in the Kydex insert which I find a little annoying. Does anyone know of a method for customising the internal section to better fit the blade?

Cheers

I think a piece of cloth (shop rag ,not the hole rag)balled up or some cotton balls( a few.) Give it a shot, dont cost much. I like the Spec-Ops my self.

What I was more sort of getting at was whether it was possible to modify the actual bit of Kydex. Like can it be heated then moulded around the blade. Its way to thin to try and stuff material into as packing.

You should be able to find some info on working with kydex with a little help from the search engine on the forums or with google. As mentioned, a heat gun works well, but you should also be able to heat it in the oven. You can make a press out of a couple of pieces of plywood and foam from a cheap camp mat.
