Mercworx

Recently came across these folders and find them pretty decent.

Do any of you own them, and if so how are they? Pics would be great!

i dont own one but have played with a atropos a bud owns quite a bit, i like the grind on it, like the design, great F&F, pretty good knife imho.

really the only cons are mercworx had a bad rep for CS IIRC (which IIRC is supposedly better now) and imho the MW folders are overpriced for a production knife, i mean $450 is pretty high for a production, also, IIRC they are tip down, which i dont care for.

now if ya just have to have one, they arent bad, if ya dont mind choking up that much $$ lol.

honestly, for $450, i think theres better stuff around.

they aren't really production.

they are about as much production as a sebenza.

from the faq:

Are Mercworx knives handmade?

Yes. Each Mercworx knife is handmade from start to finish by a single knife maker.

I got a chance to borrow a Clotho. it's as good as any $375 custom folder, and better than some.

FWIW sebs arent customs either, maybe i would say "semi-custom"& irregardless of what MW's "faq" says they arent a custom either, again maybe a semi. IIRC MW's (and sebs too FWIW) have some CNC stuff done to them, which isnt a bad thing, but to me it dispells any hints of being "handmade".

i would hope a $450 folder would exhibit better F&F than a $375 one, custom or production. or at least as good a F&F.

and i say again, theres better stuff around for $450, imho, stuff which has better F&F, stuff with (to me) better aesthetics, stuff which will when ya decide to sell it (if ya do) ya will be able to get your $$ out of better, but if the MW folders "grab" ya they arent bad, but are imho a little overpriced.
