Anyone have direct experience with a Mercworx blade, like the Goliath or Equator?

I was thinking the same thing :D

I have had my eye on a Sniper with a Chili handle but am not sure if it is worth the $$.

My Sniper is very nicely made. Very nice fit and finish. I like the Chili Pepper handle better than their standard handle.

Is it worth the money? That's hard to say. I'm glad I have the Sniper. The finish is nicer than the finish on my Striders. I've hardly used my Sniper.
It has been mostly a safe queen. It is the S30V version.

Thanks, Rich. The sniper seems very similar to the equator in design. These are expensive handmade blades -- very handsome -- but I wonder how they hold up. They appear to be hollow ground, with a full tang. How's the balance on the sniper?

The balance point is right at the rear edge of lower guard. It feels like a pretty neutral balance.

If I was going to use the Sniper for something serious I might rough up the finish on the handle. With dry hands, the micarta feels a little too smooth as it comes from the factory. But, that's an easy thing to change.

It is a hollow grind but not a real deep hollow grind.

Any excuse to take a new picture. :-)

I should have wiped the blade of the Sniper before taking the photo.

The Shiper looks good, but I prefer the Strider Mark 1 and Mark1-A. The Strider's grip is more secure when thrusting and the blade is better for slicing.
