Hey,
I'm a new member, and this is my first post. I was wondering if I could get some opinions on a knife I'm considering buying. I have a couple knives at the moment, and have been interested in this knife for a while, and have found one on eBay.
(( Do not link to live auctions. ))
Before I go ahead and bid on it, do you guys have any opinions or advice for me? :o
Thanks, Kenna.

Looks pretty good, I have no experience with Mercworx but ive heard some good things about them.
Im sure somebody who knows more will chime in soon

Not bad at all. They make a helluvaknife IMO but very pricey. I have the LG one up for sale here on BF you you want to look at it. Only selling it to fund Gun purchases and feel that Mercworx makes some quality knives but there are ALOT of others to choose from. Best wishes & welcome to the forum..

(( Keep sales in the Exchange forums. ))

i have handled the medium folder and thought it was ok, pricey but certainly ok, it had really good grind lines and really good F&F, i have heard they can vary on both though, i might would consider one if didnt have to pay retail, all in all a good knife but like i said pricey.

Welcome to the forum Kenna. I assume by the name you are a new lady member of our community.

You have caviar taste in knives I see, what knives do you currently own/use?

I have always liked the blade design on the Mercworx folders.

As with anything on e-bay, decide what it is worth to you and if you can get it for that amount or less, go for it.

Good knives, but as everyone else has said, very pricey. If you can get a deal on one, go for it.

Sorry about the link. I wasn't aware. It won't happen again. (:

I have a very minimal collection, but I have a BRKT Pro Scalpel, Rat RC4 and a non-descript folder. I also have access to BRKT Bravo 2, a Fallkniven A2 and a set of high quality kitchen knives.

Thanks for all of the advice and opinions. (:

Mercworx make some serious blades, at least there fixed ones are meant for hard use and the reviews i have seen on them all seem very positive (besides a wally name).
Not sure about their folders, if you like the recurve then maybe take a look at ZT knives, like the ZT 0301 for instance.
Another great knife if you are looking at spending the big bucks on a folder is the XM 18 hinderer.

kewl you just upped the estrogen level on bf by a fair amount

As others have said nice but pricey, if you can get one at a discount id snatch it up if you dont like it im sure you could make your money back.

There are some deals to be had out there, thanks to this lovely recession we're having. I agree that, even if you don't like the knife, if you can afford to hold onto it for a while, you should at least be able to get your money out of it (and maybe more). The recession can't last forever, can it? (Dear God, please tell me it won't last forever.) :)

Everything I've read says Mercworx makes a good knife. I hate their name, though. It screams "mall ninja" to me. In fact, that is the ONLY reason I've never bought one!

I have a MercWorx Sniper and it is by far the best damn knife I have ever owned great steel and I mean great. It is strong as hell and takes forever to get dull. The only downside is my sharpmaker won't even touch it. S30V is great and MercWorx did one hell of a job with it. My only complaint is the handle, I have the chili pepper handle and it is a little too slick for my taste. Any have any ideas how to make it really grippy?

Sound like I might throw a bid in then, since all I've heard is good news.

One more quick question though. The seller is claiming that Mercworx is no longer making the knife, but I haven't been able to confirm this. Can anyone help?

I have never been able to find anything official from Mercworx but there was a thread here a while back that confirmed they have stopped production on the Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos folders.

Kevin

I have been in contact with Nigel at MercWorx and he said the Clotho, Lachesis and the Atropos have all been discontinued. I asked why and he said that they are working on some new stuff. At the moment the only folder they make is the Saevus and it is an auto.
