Wife and I decided to go for a ride yesterday. Was such a nice day out, and we hadn't been out for a bit. These photos are from a little town on the Illinois river called Meredosia, which is about 50 miles from home. We ended up going to Quincy, and crossed the Mississippi into Missouri, then headed back. All the photos are from Meredosia though.

Log cabin in town:

Wildlife refuge. Meredosia Lake is behind the woods there:

Lots of flowers and such along the path:

Cactus plants are all over the place. It's very sandy near the river:

Looking out to the right. This is supposed to be Meredosia Lake. I have been here many times over the years, and I have never seen it this dry before:

To the left. Some water, but not much:

Wanted to see if I could take a photo through the telescope or not. Yep:

An antless ant hill. I guess that's what it is:

Meredosia Lake a bit down the road:

What I believe to be a Bull snake. He was about a 3 and a half footer:

It sure was nice to get out again.

W,

Great photos!

It's looks like that BK2 had more fun this weekend than I did.. LOL

I like the color intensity in those flower photos.. What kind of camera do you use?

Does it have some sort of polarizing filter on it?

I use a little Sony Cybershot, DSC-W55. It's an older model now. Point and shoot. It's a great little camera, but I do enhance my photos using the GIMP program.

Thanks Warrior - Sweet pictures.

I need to get out in Illinois more - there is quite a bit here to do and see (besides corn and bean fields).

best

I hear ya. Always nice in the river valleys. Southern Illinois is beautiful. Shawnee National Forest, Garden of the Gods, Giant city State Park, etc.
