Ok....We have been hunting BigFoot on TV for 2 seasons now, I guess thats getting old so now we have Mermaids  Just watched the show on Animal Planet...Have you guys watched it yet ? Whats your thoughts ?

Caught it, kinda hokey. I seriously doubt they got "that clear of footage" off a camera phone. That show couldn't decide if it wanted to convince people that "aquatic apes" were real or that they want to put pressure on the Navy to stop ulf/vlf sonar testing. I find it odd that all of the NOAA "experts" left or were Rif'd shortly after the incident occurred in 2004 and that the broadcast/production of the show was 7 years later in 2011.
I'd like to see more authenticated or documented pictures of open sea fish with spear points in them and check the credentials of the scientist. . Without going political I chalk this one up to Whale Wars and par for the course for Animal Planet.

Yeah...I thought it was kinda odd the way they did things & I thought the same thing about the cell phone video.

I thought the show was very interesting, but they wasted a good 20 minutes showing that cheesy re-enactment of the "mermaids" throughout history. Ruined it for me.
And their video evidence also looked ridiculous.

I watched it with my 10 and 12 yr old boys. They were seriously wondering how real they were, and had lots of questions. It's hard to tell them that a "Science" channel is just trying to make a program that people will watch, and the true scientific value is quite low. I had to stress the fact that it may be POSSIBLE, but that doesn't make it LIKELY. Still, that one NOAA chick was pretty cute, and I enjoyed seeing her face throughout the show.

Overalll, it was interesting, and made you think about what COULD possibly happen. Maybe if the continents go under water, we'll have a chance to evolve into something similar.:D
