I have ordered a pair on good recommendation from my Dad who has the gore tex version and other co workers who have Merrells and really like them. I am going to use them for work and some light trail hiking, I already have a higher top Gore tex boot in the Danner 453 also a great shoe. Does anyone have any thoughts on the brand or the specific model of shoe?

I'm on my second pair. The low cut model.
Everyday wear, I stand a lot on the job, they work well.
Comfortable, wear well and dry fast when you get them wet.
They are NOT waterproof.
I wouldn't hesitate to wear them on well worn, easy walking trails.
I like more ankle support for most hiking though.

I typically wear Merrells everyday and on the trail. My preference is for the Merrell Chameleon Stretch II, but I also like the Moab Ventilator. I have never had any problems with the shoe being water proof while hiking, camping, or daily wear. They are comfortable, but my feet are prone to getting warm in them. I do like them, but when I get another pair I will likely go back to the Chameleons.

I bought a pair of the Ventilators mostly for the treadmill, with backup use at an annual four-day trade convention.

So far, working out fine for both.

I've had these Merrill's for 4-5 years. I got them for only $49 (Half Off) at Marshal's Dept Store. They are gore-tex and have been great. I've put probably 200-300 trail miles over rough rocky terrain and have taken them on snowshoe trips and they've been great. Do to my big feet (sz-13) they have a low enough profile to slip into my crampons and snowshoe bindings where my heavier North Face Baltero's don't. I wore them on our hike up the Palisades Glacier and they were excellent on the loose rock and talus. They also stuck on the steep slabs we had to cross to get to the glacier.

I just bought them because they were cheap and gore-tex but they turned out to be a great find and definitely worth the money, even at twice the price.

My buddy had a pair of Vasque boots that gave him tons of problems, blisters, hot spots and sore feet. He switched to a pair of Merrill Moabs and he loves them.

I have the Gore-Tex version, and have been using them most of this year. When I saw them for a good price last week, I bought a duplicate pair(first time I've ever done that-always trying something new).
My favorite shoe ever.

Had them in snow a few times, in shallow water dozens of times, and they've proven waterproof. When they've gotten in water high enough to get inside the shoe, they dried overnight.
My feet have stayed comfortable in them from 10-100 degrees with the same ankle-high Asics running socks. I wear Integral Designs eVent Shortie gaiters with them to keep mud and rain(and very rarely, snow) from getting in.
Traction is good, too. I've climbed lots of steep, rocky trails in them, and have a habit of following streams by hopping from rock to rock, along with walking on submerged rocks, and haven't wiped out, yet, except for on some slick clay banks that no shoe would have held on to.
Another thing that isn't a feature, but has worked out really well, is that they are practically self-cleaning, body and sole:rolleyes:
They get muddy almost every week hiking, daily when I'm walking hills regularly around home, but have only been scrubbed down once, and that was months ago. I wore them to church while out of town visiting last weekend.
For anyone they fit well, they're worth a look, IMO. I certainly have no complaints.

Oh, there's one in my avatar, too:)

Have another pair of Merrells that are very light, and offer little support, but are comfortable for just wearing around.

I own the Merrell ISOs and the Chameleon 3s. I cannot say enough about these shoes. They are without a doubt, the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. You just have to break them in for a couple days, they may be a little tough on your feet for a couple days.

One thing I like is that the shoes have some sort of antimicrobial treatment to prevent that funky athletes foot reek. There is also a warranty service, I sent back a pair after owning them for 4 months, the Vibram on the toe started peeling. I called them up and sent a copy of the receipt, 2 weeks later I got a new pair. No questions asked.

I have been wearing the moab ventilators every day
for a few months now.
I really like them
when they get wet, just take out the insole
the shoes dry very fast.
I also have the ankle height version.
those are also very nice shoes.
