Fiddleback Friday again! I have a big batch of available knives this week. Lots of wood, and a couple burlap handles. Guys, I’m almost out of Burlap. The last time I talked to Shadetree, he was thinking of retiring and closing shop. I’ve got enough for 4ish knives, two are in this weeks batch.

As always, my first priority is to thank all of you. Fiddleback Forge depends on y’all, and we hope you love the tool you buy from us.

The prices this week are without sheaths. I am lucky enough to work with both Heber Ellsworth and Rick Lowe. Both make fantastic sheaths that are completely different from one another. I appreciate your support for them as well.

All of the steel this week is 3D Spalted 01.

Payment may be made to Paypal, or by personal check or MO. I hold all personal checks until they have cleared. This usually doesn’t cause a delay because they usually clear before shipping day. The paypal address is: fiddlebackpayments at att dot net. Please describe your purchase in the payment notes.

Shipping is included within the US. We do all our shipping on Thursdays.

First thing I wanted to show you guys was the kitchen knife I made for Leah for her birthday. It is ATS 34 and black and blue g10 with a heart carved into the butt of the tang. I’d never done that before. Fun times.

That Carver is really nice! Mine has the same handle, but a scandi ground blade. The full flat ground almost hawkbill shape is awesome!!

Sad about the burlap.

The kephart with the coffee bag burlap is a perfect combination with the thick orange stripe. Wow!

I am excited to see what will be done with the last two pieces.

Thats a great looking batch! Especially the Recluse.. and scandi Hiking Buddy.. and everything else haha

Another outstanding batch of knives Andy. That guard-less Lady Finger looks awesome, would be a great food prep knife as well as a B&T. That Recluse is beautiful as well, as are the rest... but that Bushboot just gave me an epiphany. Since I have the Bushfinger, a Hunter, and now a Kephart... I think a Bushboot should be the model I go with for a tapered tang. Nice size for edc urban carry, which is an area I don't have a Fiddleback for :) From MAW's comparison pics it looks like the same size as the Hiking Buddy, but a better shaped handle for my preferred carry method in an urban environment.

Oh, and by the way, that kitchen knife you made for Leah looks fantastic! Sort of looks like a Ladyfinger handle with extended tang, and a different blade shape.

I' ve just bought a kephart but I can not resist to this :

2012 1221 008 – Kephart, Cofee Bag Burlap over black with a thick orange spacer, Scandi on 1/8” thick steel - $250

I' ll take it.

Thanks and merry christmas

Great Looking Batch, Andy!!! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Thank you and Merry Christmas to you and yours, and to all of you checking out this thread. Have fun with your kids. Thats my plan at least.

Payment sent! I bet you didn't see that bloodwood buy coming :D

Actually, that knife is really nice, and I figured someone would want that tapered tang Ladyfinger idea. Its sweet. I hope you really enjoy it! Thanks.

I like the Bushboot a lot. I carved a walking stick with one once. Its a usable small knife.

Ok Andy, enough for the restraint... give me the green shadetree bushfinger!

Awesome. I actually thought you'd get it. Its spectacular. You're going to love the tapered tang thing.

It is exactly a guardless Ladyfinger with an extended tang. No blade shape difference.

Thank YOU!! This weeks batch of handles is above par I think. I hope you like it. Thank You.

It looks close in size to the Hiking Buddy, so that is exactly what I was thinking. Small enough to be discrete in an urban environment, classy design that will draw more ooohs and ahhhs than YIKEs if I am using it to cut a steak, and still big enough for me to feel comfortable should the day or evening quickly transition to more urban woods or more woodland than urban. Since Lisa has claimed the HB, I really don't have a Fiddleback I feel comfortable carrying in town on weekend nights, and a lot of my impromptu studies, experiments, and demonstrations have been happening in urbanized areas lately. I think that a Bushboot with a high saber grind in 5/32 and some earthy phenolic is what I really need to go for next, I just want one with a tapered tang to show off. :D

Hi Andy,

Is this knife still available, by chance? ...

2012 1221 012 – Bushfinger, Emerald Green Burlap over black with a white pinstripe, Tapered Tang, Convex on 5/32” thick steel - $290
