Often, the best presents are the ones you get for yourself. I had wanted a Heavy Heart w/mags for some time, and intended to strip it and maybe put a little polish on the grind bevels. Eventually I scored one with std scales from Knife Hunter. Then I saw the very nice pics posted by Gerberblades of the spa job that the Shop did on his HH, and decided that would be the way to go.
Fast forward a few months to the Easton Show, and on Saturday of that weekend we finally got some pics, and our first look at the smooth bolt variants.
A satin HH, with hand shaped micarta.
Perfection!
Gotta have it.
I made a late call to a proxy (THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU) and to my surprise one was still available.
SCORE!
While waiting for my knife, an idea came upon me. Wouldn't it look cool with a DCBB finish? But could it be done with the scales on?
Resolution of that question had to wait until Garth came back to work after a no doubt, well-deserved vacation.
YES! it could be done, he said.
So, with a big THANK YOU to Garth for a beautiful job, I now have what may be a unique knife. The DCBB looks great, the bolts have a cool coarse look, and the micarta has just a little texture.
Perfection, improved.
