I mentioned to her months ago that our cooking knives suck, and how it would be nice to get a gift that I hadn't thought of...
So she goes and searches out this tiny co-op cutler called Bernal Cutlery in San Francisco. She picked up this pair of cooking/sushi knives. High carbon steel, they hand sharpened them on the whetstone right in front of her. They whittle hairs, and IMHO are beautiful. I lucked out! She took me in to the store a few days later, and I picked up an opinel no 07, again hand sharpened on their wheel and whetstone. A scalpel!
