Thank you Nybble for all the help with my pictures!

Here's my 'set' of BM49's and an original Samson 5 incher thrown in for the holiday spirit! ;)

These shots will give you an idea of the difference in finish between the 49SPL and the 49-01.

Arrest that man for posing as Dawkind!

It was a nice try, stealing Mr. Dawkind's knives, torturing his bf.c password out of him, and posting these pictures under his name.

But, you made two critical mistakes. Dawkind's pictures are always taken on an old paint cloth and always have poor white points. So, give the knives back to and appologize to Mr. Dawkind for posting such nice pictures under his name. And don't do that again!

Now, hopefully, our old friend Dawkind will post to yellow-cast pictures of his knives on a old drop cloth just like he's supposed to.
 
Ok, I'm slow.. I just got Merry "Kris"mas, I just glossed over it in your email, heh! I think that means I should stop all work and go and get a coffee. :)
 
And a very nice krismas present as well. Thanks Dawkind. Now, if my camera would only return.... Not that it would matter, need to really improve my still-life shooting skills to match you people. ;)

Hey Dawkind, aren't the cocobolo inserts really really nice on the SPL's? My three 49-01's don't even come close to having that level of personality as my SPL.
 
So how does one go about manipulating something like that? I'm sure you wouldn't simply because of the value of such knives, but...

I'd be affraid to slice the dice up out of my hands.

Very, very beautiful knives.
 
I would get that you couldn't ricochet.

I wish I had the money for those. Too rich for my blood...

tony: we hear you complain about 'how you wish your camera would return soon', but you know, this has gone far enough. i'm starting to believe you don't have any knives! ;)

nybble: you're slow?! i just got it when i saw your reply... what does that say about me? :D
by the way, though... isn't is kriss? with 2 s's?

I've got to be honest and say apart from the glass-like finish, the inserts in my 49-01 are, IMHO, almost nicer than my SPL because of the burl-like grain on both sides of the handle....:D.....
 
Dear lord.

It shouldnt be legal for one to own a set like that. In the holiday spirit, I'll offer for you to send me your 49's and keep the Samson. Dont wanna break the law ya know...

Those are three of the nicest, coolest bali's I've seen in the three years I've been into balisongs. Makes my 42 like comparing a McLaren F1 to a Ford ZX2. :D:D

Well, if it helps, Dawkind and I are both in the Telecomm field. I'm on the user side, and Dawkind is on the service side. :D
 
Nice pictures Dudley! That's nice you and Tony pulled off the numbering deal. My 49-01's don't have that sort of grain depth in the Cocobolo.., but they ceratinly are exceptionally well made pieces.

My guess is that all the 49SPL's we'll see will have the very nice variance in the hardwood.

Nice series of pictures..., and I'll thank Nybble too (although I don't really understand all the picture storage stuff yet).

ixpfah: I think it's usually spelled kris, although I have seen it as kriss also.
 
I knew I should have stayed in computers...
Of course, my leaving that field wasn't by choice. :D:D Well, maybe after paying off our credit card bills and stuff, I'll be able to buy some balis. One can dream, right? :D:D

Oh My GOD !, that's all I can say that will ven come close to the way I feel looking at that set. That and that I'm touching myself imagining owning them...ahhh. Oh wait too much information. Thanks for the pics Dawkind. Merry Xmas all and Happy New Year......RDT
