Over the past days we have watched in horror at the devastation caused by Katrina. This post is just to let you folks know you're in our thoughts and prayers.
With very best wishes and good luck.

Thanks,

Watching CNN last evening though, I wasn't sure if I was watching Rwanda or New Orleans. Under these circumstances, any looter taking anything but basic food and water supplies, should be shot on sight. There is an element in our society that looks at every calamity as an opportunity to get that new Large Screen TV they've always wanted.

I nearly died laughing at the guy walking down the street carrying a recycling bin full of lukewarm Heineken... in three feet of water. I think the Guard should just shoot looters on sight though. Save some trouble.

I hope we see more good stories from that area of the US soon, the media is showing us a grim reality. I hope people get out of this somehow someday and all down there are good to go soon. hero stories rock. The more you carry the easier you sink. Many thoughts about the situation come easy from my high and dry seat here. Couldn't imagine living it. Im not very religious but Im praying for them too.

What is going down in New Orleans is a shameful catastrophe. The concern and well wishes of the rest of the world community are much appreciated. The combined National Guards of MS, TN, Louisiana, and Tx should have been able to assemble 1000 trucks loaded with MRE's and water in 36 hours to convoy in and bring people out. (But, Nooo. they are all over in Iraq fighting a rich man's war as usual. Please God, Bless them and bring them home safe. The Guard is no longer the State Militia , but just another reserve for the Federal Army. ) FEMA is every day revealing itself as an Agency of Political control rather than an emergency relief and planning organization. The Officials I have seen on TV were obviously stressed to the point of hysteria as they glibly explained how they had done all they could do. At this point, it is too late to restore order with out draconian measures, and loss of life any way. Many refugees probably will not survive another day with out food and water. Of course, there is the enormous problem of where do the refugees go convoyed out? I say, Into America. Heck, I can put a pallet down for two or three refugees, Hot water, Laundry, Soft bed. Corn bread and fried chicken. Bring those people up out of Egypt.
out .

Thanks for your kind thoughts, Carl. We're all wishing the best for the people down there.

Thes scale of the disaster makes us recognise how frail the works of man are. I hope the world's one superpower can pull together and deliver their people from this devastation.

My thoughts are with the victims, but also with those emergency service workers and NG who are there trying to aid them in their time of need.

Sheesh it looked like a giant had walked across the city. I am wondering if the rest of the world will chip in to help? Or is that a 3rd world perogative? How long will the water take to recede or will the next Mari Grass be on real floats.

My thoughts are with them.
From what i've seen now what they really need is someone to take control and get people moved out of new orleans and the affected areas.
I agree with Fox's Creek in regards to the military. Americas military are one of the largest in the world and the combined manpower and organisation of such a force could of taken control of this swiftly and effectivly with the resources available to them.

I hope things get better soon

Remember....all is never lost til we lose our sense of humor....IMHO of course!
Not much to laugh at recently though!:(

I can't say that any better than Carl already has; it looks like a real nightmare, and there's nothing we can we directly do to help. I just hope that the emergency services, the police and the military bring everything back under control as soon as possible.

My sympathy goes out to all those who are suffering as a result of this unimaginable catastrophe, and I hope for the best for all of them.

I just hope that the looters and gangs who are taking advantage of the situation will eventually be rounded up, and treated to the justice that such animals deserve; there should really be an example made of those sort of people.
