Message to Sunday Picture Show participants.

Historically, Armand Hernandez had a problem with people posting in previous SPS threads bringing them forward at the same time the current SPS was active. People not paying attention to the date would accidentally start posting in the old show, not the new one. Remember Armand tried editing the title OLD SHOW or NEW SHOW? I took over as host January 10th, 2021 and there have been about 165 shows since then (wow). It seemed a simple solution that I would lock the old show when I started a new one the following week. Perhaps it was a solution to a non problem.

I never received any comment concerning my locking the old shows it until now. It was not about preventing thread necropsy, just avoiding confusion on Sunday about which Show is the current one. That brings us to the present attachment limit mess. The SPS belongs to all members of this form, not myself. I'm just the temporary caretaker. I'm sorry locking the threads has caused a problem and will discontinue the practice going forward.

In the coming week or so I will start working my way back thru the old threads and unlock all of them.

I appreciate the participation and support of the SPS. Please be patient, that's a lot of threads to find. /Roger

I agree 1000%. Thank you.

It is a frustrating situation for all of us. But we will get through it. Spark said not to delete anything yet, so I think that is best for now.

Roger I don't think you caused a problem by locking the threads! It was frustrating when an old thread was brought up instead of the new one. Everything was fine until this situation with members reaching their limit.

Thanks for all that you do and are doing. I wish there was a way to help you.

Thanks DeSotoSky for all of your work! I don't often get to read the SPS until Monday morning, but it's a highlight. I didn't actually notice that old threads were locked, but I'm not the sharpest crayon.

Thank you for the comments. Having slept on it. I think if it ever happens in the future we end up with two SPS at the top of the page simultaneously on a Sunday, I will lock the old one down for 1 day. Only avoiding confusion on Sunday was the original intent anyways.

I realize the limits on pics is frustrating to say the least...but I'd also hate for the old pic shows to end up barren of pics......they re like archives of rare and one offs and useful for searches.

obviously, I'm not telling anyone what they should or shouldn't do with their pic space and attachments, but maybe consider not deleting them least until the site owner has let us know what he can or can't do on space given. I realize couple weeks seems like forever but solving server space issue isn't a one day deal, I know as I had to buy servers for work and do cloud backups and it was many months long process and I was pulling my hair out dealing with the vendors. like anything..... sounds easy, but doing is quite hard and takes time.

The SPS is one of my favorite threads. As far as I'm concerned, Roger, or whoever undertakes the task in the future, can do whatever they want with it. I appreciate the effort involved.

That was the reason some of us started the “Club”. Threads. One thread full of pictures of that model. I had the 117 one going for a while. Some people posted a picture I gave them membership and they deleted the pictures! .
