Messaging a member privately?

Hey, so I've been here a while, and maybe I'm just bad at the new software (which I love in every other way; I think the new logo is great, etc.)

I just got a friend request from a newer member, and accepted it; but wanted to privately ask the member some questions- seeing how we are "friends" and all. I didn't see a way to email or leave a visitor message. Is this something that can be turned off, or am I blind?

If you can send a message/let the guy know, that's fine as well. Mturbo is the member. I just wanted to have a more private conversation, and didn't see how.

Thanks,

The ability to PM is one of the perks of paid membership. As far as emails, there is a system in place...but it has to be enabled by both parties. I don't recall whether the default is to have them on or off; but it's a simple enough fix. Click on Settings in the upper right hand corner; find, and click, General Settings in the menu on the left side of the page; scroll down to the email section & click the box you want....then scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes. (The option for Visitor Messages is further down on that same page - follow the same procedure, for those)

Thanks. I have all MY settings turned on. I went to the other guy's page to say hey, I'd like to have a chat, but I saw no visitor messages, etc. Available. I suppose more germane is, I didn't know someone could turn visitor messages on their page OFF. And if there's any way to directly contact a member, or have a notification ping them? Like I said, he just sent a friend request, so I assume I wouldn't be totally unwelcome to contact.

Click on his user name and it will pull down his profile. He does have PM enabled, which doesn't help you, but he hasn't enabled email, which would.

Look to the right and you will find Visitor Messages. You could use that to ask him to email you.

Don't be so cynical. :)

He likes to mingle, he's basically a friendly guy. We have people here who take advantage of that, and troll him all the time. Take him as you see him. If you get into regular contact and still like him, all the better for you and him.
