Recommendation? Messed up my knife tip

Let's try this one in the Maintenance section.

Well you can't add steel back. If it's worth spending money on you could find someone to regrind it but it will be a bit shorter if you want it to look perfect.

Regrind? Why? It looks like its just scratched up from using a stone on it. A bit of elbow grease, some judicious use of varying grades of fine emery paper and it will be fine....

Other than the over-scrapes well past the edge bevel, you did an excellent job on that tip.

Arathol's suggestion would be my second choice -- after just leaving it alone. But unless you have a fair idea of what you're doing, it would be easy to make it worse.

Buy some cheap, beater knives and keep practicing. I like old traditional in carbon steel.

You're not going to worry about an old imperial Barlow or tl-29. Or even a zombie lock back.

Oh, if it's sharp, it's good.

I love pretty knives, but you need to sharpen them. I have moved to a guided system for my fancy knives.

As others have mentioned, you can refinish the blade, but it's really not necessary. I'd just use it as-is. There's honor in wear on a well-maintained tool.
