So I already have a medium satchel in coffee, but I am thinking I might now need a Messenger Bag.... any advise, pictures, suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I bought the satchel last time I went to Europe on vacation. I picked the medium size based on the measurements online, but with the two side pockets I find I can't fit as much as I wanted - magazines mostly. I now find I want to carry more 8.5" x 11" sized documents/packages etc, but I just can't fit them in the satchel.

The only negative on the Messenger is the lack of interior pockets. From what I understand the Messenger only has the two side pockets and the removable divider, where as say the thin briefcase has a couple more options.

Anyone with a Messenger Bag care to comment........ I was thinking tobacco as I think it will age best.....

If you don't get enough responses with pictures here, there are hundreds of pictures people have posted on Saddleback's facebook page.

I have an old style Saddleback messenger in Dark tobacco (Love it) which i got from a guy on one of the facebook pages. It has a large easy access pocket on the rear of the bag which is good for magazines, and inside fits a 15 inch macbook in a case nicely with space to spare (baring in mind, my bag hasn't been broken in yet and is still quite stiff, so will get larger over time i imagine)

It has two small pockets inside in which one is bigger than the other. ones made deep enough for pens and the other i just use for a small flashlight and other bits.

The two external pockets are handy for water bottles and the likes. Will take some better pictures of inside later.

this is one well-weathered SLC coffee bag! How does it "feel" being so weathered? It seems the coffee is more matte than chestnut so it might wear to a more fondleable texture. Same, it seems, with tabbaco. I like the chestnut warmth the best but I think it wears the worst. What do you think?

I have a newer messenger bag that I inherited from my daughter - about a year old.

Outer pocket in back large enough to carry 8-1/2 by 11" stuff - folders, pads, magazines.

Two outer pockets on the sides - large enough to carry small misc items - I have a sync cord for my mobile phone in one and a handful of aspirin travel size packets in other. I have put bottled water in the outer pockets also.

Two pockets inside - I carry an old eyeglass case with a few pen refills, pencil eraser refills and lead refills in one pocket, and a few pens in the other. There is also a keychain fob sewn into the inside at the end of a long leather strap.

I carry my iPad, a leather folio that is letter size, and my small pc work laptop in mine with no problem. Mine hasnt even begun to break in yet - its one tough bag.

I have no desire to convert it to a backpack, but it's nice to know I can if I ever need to.

If you are a minimalist the bag is the right choice. If you like to carry lots of stuff you may want to reconsider.

I find that the more bag and pockets I have the more stuff I carry - and it's typically stuff I don't use on a daily basis.

I had a messenger but I chopped it up with my Sebenza, I never even used it. They are not indestructible as the sebenza sliced it like it was paper. I would get the backpack if I were you, don't get something that is going to sit in the closet.

Deleted original post. I thought it rude inquiring about another brand on a vendor's forum. Sorry.

I have the newer style dark coffee brown messenger. I travel the world with it, and I find it just big enough for daily carry, and even other essential things. I have converted it into a backpack many times, and it is great. I highly recommend it!

I have the old style messenger in dark tobacco. I use it to go to the gym and it will definitely outlast me! It wears well and the patina is awsome.
