Messy Otters !

It was a perfect morning today, frost on the ground and sun in the sky !!!

There was lots of Otter sign on this boat launch, lots and lot's of Scat, you can see a big pile where the bottom of the handrail meets the dock~

There was a lot of their food remains in this little boat, Snicker looked quite wary, maybe she thought they might still be there !

She could definitely smell them~

Yep, days like this are few and far between !

This past summer I found some evidence of otters on a river I fish.

On the bank next to the prints was this 4lb barbel with its face chewed off.

A few years ago I was fishing a hike in lake locally with a 1 man inflatable trail boat. Halfway through the day noticed a pair of otters ripping past me 10 ft below my flyline. For 20 minutes was able to watch them chase trout under me in the little bay. Then they appeared on shore about 150ft away and entirely devoured a 17 in or so trout. One of the most memorable hours of my life, amazing to see them chase fish so close up in crystal clear green water. You can see bottom 25 to 30 ft at Lindeman Lake.
