Last summer I got to know one of our brothers here in the Traditional Forum, "qncygnnr" through a trade we made for a knife we each had. In dealing with him I learned that Scott lives in the small Midwest town where my Mother lives. Well, fast-forward a year... This week while here visiting my mother and relatives I contacted him and finally got the chance to meet Scott. It was a great getting to know him in person. Over coffee we covered many topics (including pocket knives of course!) - and in the process we showed off a few pocket knives we each just happened to have on us. :D

As we examined each other's pocket cutlery and sipped coffee, Scott showed me a beautiful 3 3/8" Western #657 stockman (Clip, spey & punch) with gorgeous ebony scales. As I shamelessly drooled and admired it's gorgeous jet-black ebony scales with Federal shield he suddenly said "That's your's"... Wow! I was stunned and tickled at such a wonderful gift. I've been fondling and admiring it off and on all day since our meeting needless to say.

I want to express my sincerest thanks for such a thoughtful gift. Scott obviously knows of my love affair with the Stockman pattern and this little gem is a fine vintage example.

And now without further ado...

Thank you Scott!

That is too cool arizonaranchman. I'd love to one day get to meet some of the bladeforums members around in the new england area. It's nice to put a username to a personality.

Its ALWAYS great to meet other Traditionalists - so I would have been excited to meet Scott as well - and that Western is a CLASSIC all the way!! and being gifted this knife?-it makes it all the more special - Great reading!!!

Too cool. I have made several friends here through trades. I'd love to have a coffee with any number of members. Doubly lucky that you ended up with such a beautiful knife. Good for both of you!!

What a great looking knife, and first thing I thought is arizonaranchman loves ebony and the stockman pattern. Glad you got to meet Scott, sounds like a great guy.

I think the friends that I've made here, go over the border into family. Great people!!

The ones that I've met up with here in Maryland have been great, and I'm looking forward to meeting up with members in Texas when I make my move.

This is the best forum on the 'net!

Thanks for sharing that very cool story, Jeff!:thumbup: Kudos on your thoughtful gift, Scott!:cool:
Stories like this give me a real lift! :D
As Cory wrote in a recent thread, people in my "regular" life seem quite skeptical when I tell them about the goings-on at the traditional subforum. I often say something about how BF members' behavior is usually more consistent with Christian principles than that of members of many churches I've belonged to! ;)

Agree with this completely!

I have had the good fortune to meet several forum members and have yet to meet one that I have not enjoyed the pleasure.

Great story and very cool gift. Thanks for sharing.

My recollections (which may be incomplete) That folder has gone from Colorado to ? to BDEV (New York) to GLENNBAD (New Hampshire) then back to New York - on to FLINT HILLS (KANSAS) then to QCYGNNR (Illinois) and now to ARIZONARANCHMAN (California).

When you take a retired policeman to a "donut" shop the rest is easy ... seriously, we had a 2 hour visit that covered everything from family, to pocket knives, to handguns, to coyotes and mountain lions. It was interesting to talk about all our mutual BF friends and recall some of our favorite posts. I'm certain that the other patrons were wondering why there was a pile of pocket knives on the table!

We do have a great community and I'm thankful the Mods keep the "crazy" to a minimum.

Just fantastic :) I wish I lived closer to more of you folks
