Just wondering which metal band saws you fellows might recommend? Not looking at heavy use but someting that will carve out the knife patterns. Harbor Frieght has one on sale but I am a little reluctanct based on passed experience. Thanks for the aid. Terry

You'll find most have the harbor freight 4x6 metal band saw you are probably referring to and reccomend it to nearly every one that asks.

Have to agree with the HF Bandsaw.Have had mine for about 15 years and still kicking.Just but decent blades, HF blades suck.Dave

I bought the Harbor Frieght one to but didnt like the quality. It had porous castings and cheap motor and pulleys. I sent it back and paid $100 more for a JET. It looks the same but is better. Also has a nice paint job. Im convinced its better quality but You All say they are the same. I sure like the JET.

I have the HF saw, wouldn't give it up for anything. I guess I wouldn't mind having a far better one but that's not in the cards. I use the Lennox blades, makes all the difference.

Dave

Same hear H.F. with Bi-metal blade. I use it for everthing, wood, bone, antler and ivory. OH! Ya! metal too. Thier service sucks.

I've used a Milwakie Porta Band for years and have been totally happy with it plus it doesn't take up hardly any room. I've notice HF has been advertizing I think its their Chicago brand porta band saw. Any of you tried it? The only power tool that I've bought from them was their 12 disk sander and think its a pretty good tool for the price. Ray

I bought the Grizzly metal cutting bandsaw, had it about a year now and love it. Wouldn't know what to do without it now. It's pretty much the same machine as the HF model. Like Dave said, I also use the Lennox bi-metal blades and they cut great!

Thanks Guys, I think my Christmas list just got a little shorter. I didn't mind using HF when I was close to one of their stores, so I could actually look someone in the eye and glare. Now I am three hours away from actually being able to reach out and touch someone. I just sold a dust collection unit I got from HF. The unit was good, of course they sent the wrong bolts with it and then told me it would be 10 weeks to get the right ones, if they could find them. I may make a run back to Olympia and take a look. Thanks again. Terry
