Metal detector find in back garden Bowie Knife?

It looks like the line of import Bowies from the 80s. I used to have one and it was marked Original Bowie Knife. Mine was made in Solingen Germany. Not a super rare or valuable knife but they are good knives. At the very least you found something cool!!!

Thank you. Just interested in what it was to be honest. I appreciate you taking the time to answer

I would put an edge on it make a sheath and use it.

Some one was probably using it to weed and lost it.

WAY cool find: Congratulations! 👍
I never found anything more fun than an old leaf spring...
Clean it up, and put it to some good use: it has a lot of lost time to make up for.

Hi, a friend suggested I try this forum. Brought my 10 yr old a metal detector and after trying it out in the back garden found this Bowie Knife about 6 inches down.

I’ve taken the rust off but can anyone tell me about it?
That's really cool, I love detecting but don't do near enough of it. Never found a knife, but did find the fragment of an old single shot pistol frame, breech, trigger, hammer rusted away. On the site of a one room school used from the later 1800s till 1936

We don’t know where we can detect where I live yet, I suppose we were lucky to find a knife and an old horseshoe in the garden.
Problem is you expect to find something every time now!
Must have been quite a buzz to dig up a pistol though

That is a neat find! How did you get the rust off? You did a very nice job of that!
I used a wire brush that attaches to a drill. Saw it on YouTube in a 4 step guide to restore old knives. Wire brush being step 1, sanding the pits out step 2(although I agree with a post earlier that it has some character with the pits). Sharpening and the handle - Step 3&4. Link below to what I used.
