I saw in the Spyderco product guide that there is or was a metal handled Native. is this knife still available? If so what steel does it use? I really want a Native. I dont know if I should get the zytel, metal handle (if available), or wait for the bladeforums g-10 version. What steel is i the zytel version?

In responce to your question they did make a metal handle Native. The blade steel on mine is aus10. My question for Sal would be how many were produced and when?

Bill - the model is still in production, albeit slower and later than hoped. (This poor delivery problem Spyderco has is often the results of trusting that someone will do what they say when they say the will.???

Regarding the numbers, Danelle? Susan can provide that information.

Shootist16 - the steel in the current liteweight Native is Gin-1. The Forum knife is CPM440V. I would wait for the forum piece.

Sal, my understanding was that the original run of metal-handled Native was only in a partially serrated blade. Is this correct? What about the current metal Natives? Any plain blades offered? Are they still in AUS-10? I would love to get one of them in a plain blade; I am a total Native nut, and want one of each (well, plain blades, that is). I think it is one of the best handling knives I've ever felt.

Shootist16, take Sal's word for it; get the BF version, if/when you can. I already have a zytel Native, though, and love it.
