I prefer a knife with a metal frame in the handle or metal scales.
Couple of times I needed to use a knife very hard. I find a good metal frame has served me well.
Plus when I see washers riding directly on G10. I wonder about it wearing thru.
I see makers using new tech steel and cheapen the rest of the knife.

G10 is surprisingly tough and abrasion resistant.

However, about the washers. Washers don't actually move against the G10, the blade moves within the washers. Things will take the path of least resistance, and smooth steel against washers has a lot less resistance than G10 against washers. The washers just don't rotate relative to the scales, generally.

This is why you can get away with not lubricating the scale side of the washers, and why things like the CRK Inkosi actually fix the washers to the scales such that they can't rotate with no ill affect on the action.

Something like the Cold Steel American Lawman makes for a great linerless lock. Because of the design of the Triad lock, it is still super strong with just G10 scales, and the lighter weight is really nice.
