Since I live in Alabama, I am paranoid about what our humidity can do to metal if left unprotected for long periods of time. What do you recommend as a protective coating for knives?

I talked to the guy who runs the knife department of a large local sporting goods store yesterday, and he uses something called Militec-1
Weapons Grade Synthetic Based Metal Conditioner to wipe down his large knives and swords. It seemed to be doing a good job on them. Anyone heard of or used this stuff?

I use militec-1 on ALL my firearms. It is an excellant lubricant/conditioner. I don't think that it is really designed to be the best protective oil, but it does seem to work in that capacity as well. I live in AR and it gets pretty humid here too. I have been using CLP lately on my INFI and it seems to be doing a good job. I have only used it on the satin and Double Cut finishes, but I am going to put it on my coated ones too. You can get a free sample of militec oil and grease from their website.
