MetalGlo VS Tuff Cloth (blade protection)

Got a Buck 110 and 112 that I love using MetalGlo on. I even put it on the blade...gets it nice and shiny and when I run water on it, it beads off like wax on a car. I wonder how much better or not it is than say running Tuff Cloth on it? Would MetalGlo offer more or less protection? (from corosion, or any other factors)

took some pics... never done this before, maybe water beads off all blades?

For a steel like 420HC rust isn't too much of a concern. If the Metalglo gives you a nice polished look that you like, use that. Whenever I use Tuf-Cloth I hate the streaky, cloudy smears it leaves behind, and when I wipe that off I feel like the protection is probably gone.
 
Gotta agree with Torz, if it works for you, keep using it, and don't worry.

And go do those dishes. ;)
 
I know that its horrible to get off and you need a lot of dish soap sometimes to get rid of it around cracks and pivots if you put too much on, so I think its fair enough to consider it good for tarnish resistance.

Nice pic by the way :thumbup: I do love polished brass and wood.
 
I don't know how much of it is true, but I thought that leaving some kind of product, like oil, metal-glo or tuf-glide on the blade is not a nice thing, if you use the the knife for preparing food,slicing an apple, or something.

What do you think?

What camera are you using? I'd like to improve my photo equipment so I can post better pix on this forum.

The thin waxy film it leaves won't flavor food at all, and if used "properly" then tuffglide isn't likely too either. On stainless blades the film left by the polish is more than adequate, but on carbon steels or if working in a very humid and corrosive environment (near saltwater, carried inside the waistband in florida) tuff glide and other products intended specifically for corrosion inhibition will work better.
