I’m trying to better learn this stuff so I made this ‘test’ up for fun. The answers will be posted in few message later in this thread. Don't be lazy, get out a piece of paper and pencil and see how you score.
I've already found a significant typo just after posting this, let me know if there are others.

I missed 10 & 11.There should be a
#23.
Heat treat relish is:
1) A great desire to quench steel.
2) The reason most knife makers spend New Years Eve alone.
3) IG's favorite etchant.
4) A carcinogenic,toxic,dangerous chemical.It should be used only by qualified smiths.
5) An excellent sauce for chicken feet.
 
Referring to questions 9 & 10 the atomic packing structures are:

Body centered cubic-BCC...Ferrite structure
Face centered cubic-FCC...Austenite structure
Body centered tetragonal-BCT...Approximated by Martensite as it attempts to resume the BCC structure.


In # 20 are you implying that you can compact the atomic structure prior to heat treating which will anneal it? (The annealing process is actually the thermal recrystallization. We preserve it by slow cooling)

No, I think most believe that packing the atomic structure of metal is beyond their 3 pound hammer. I was kinda poking at the myth that grain can be refined by breaking up the 'crystalline structure' and that benefit can be retained after heat treating.

I have a perfectly good excuse for not knowing 12 of them- and for never hearing of a cryo.

but what if I eat chicken feet too? they have built in tooth picks you know :D
