I have recently purchased some more Gibeon nickle iron meteorite to use as bolsters. I will be building six more knives like this.

George,

That is a very nice looking knife. I hope when it finds a home the person that owns it knows it is not all from this plant.
Can I ask you a question on the bolsters? what type of care do you tell the owner to preform on taking care of the bolsters. On this rare metal.

Jeff

The bolsters will rust so maintenance requires a little oil or Tuf cloth ftom time to time. The blade is 440C so there is no problem there.

I have looked around for quite a while to find a slice of meteorite thick enough for bolsters and an even thickness all over. The slice that I have found will make up about six sets of bolsters so I can make up a few more of these little beauties. The use of modern manmade carbon fibre and the exotic meteorite kind of appeals to me.

Nice touch on a good looking knife George.
Are you going to make it to Atlanta?

I would love to go to Atlanta but the budget only allows one american show this year and that is going to be Austin Texas on the first weekend in August. I have chosen Austin because those Texans just love big bowies and I enjoy making them. The other reason is that my buddy Chris Christman from Top of Texas Knives is going to be there.

For the benefit of anyone thinking about adding one of these beautiful and unique knives to their collection, I'd like to offer some of my initial impressions after having just placed my order last week:

-Working with George and Carol is an absolute pleasure. It's people like the Tichbournes that are responsible for the outstanding reputation enjoyed by the majority of the custom knifemaking community.

-George and Carol go well above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that you fully understand each of your options in the design process.

-George's prices are extremely fair and represent an outstanding value for such a superior level of craftsmanship.
