Thanks Robert. I always thought the leaf blade a very graceful shape so I decided to make a typical celtic bronze age sword in 1/4 scale miniature. The originals of course were cast.I started out with 1/2" silicon bronze rod which I hammered and annealed to less than 1/8" then I filed it to shape. It's 6" long but I did cheat in that the handle is integral with the blade .The originals have a wooden handle riveted on.No I didn't use that anvil !! This adds to my other miniatures which sometime last year were also posted.

That's pretty cool, now you need to make a little hammer and tongs. ;)

I didn't realize they cast the bronze age swords, I had always assumed they forged it to work harden it. Learn something new every day.

Forging implies hot work which doesn't harden. All the implements where cast but then the edges were hammered cold to work harden. I've been communicating on www.swordforum.com with a fellow in the Netherlands who is involved with one of those reproduction villages ,a bronze age one,and he is trying to reproduce the casting methods.Very interesting!....Tools for the anvil are already on my list.

I wanted to add what I've said before, I think it's impressive when one of our scientist is also a artisian. Best of both worlds, pretty neat. I love the blade.

Very cool Mete. And glad to learn something new too, for some reason I always figured they were forged myself.
