I have a set of Finnish knives previously owned by Harold Ensley. One is a puukko and the other is more of a skinner, both have composite handles. One side of both blades is engraved "Harold Ensley" "28.6.1979". The other side of the puukko is engraved "Kuusamo Karlnu Finland" (Karlnu may be wrong, it's engraved in cursive and I may be reading it wrong). The other side of the skinner is engraved "Kuusamon Uistin" "Metsastys Stainless". Can anyone tell me what "Metsastys Stainless" is? Is it just another name for Sandvik?

Interestingly enough, "Kuusamon Uistin" is a company selling fishing equipment, lures and such, based in Kuusamo, Finland. The "Metsastys Stainless" text translates to "Hunting Stainless", which tells us only that it's a stainless steel hunting knife.

Thanks for the replies. I assume they were probably made by another company and branded "Kuusamon Uistin". They came in a double leather sheath with "Kuusamon Uistin" on the back right below a fish, so I'm sure it's the same company as the fishing lures.. The front has a moose and a fox and says "Kuusamo Finland".

Anyone know of a Finnish knife company that would have been making synthetic handled puukkos and skinners with a convexed scandi grind in 1979?
