I own a large knife that I'd like to see if I can find out something about. It has a 12 in. blade which is engraved on one side the a wolf chasing a deer and on the other with a vine pattern and MEXICO. It has a bone handle with a gold or bronze eagle's head on the end. The sheath is leather engraved on one side with a leaf/chain pattern and an emblem with an eagle attacking a snake inside. Does anybody know anything about this knife and what would it be worth? I do not have a way to put a picture on right now.

My uncle gave me a similar one that he had picked up back in the early '60s. I've seen one other one since...and no they're not worth much, they're basically a lets sell a tourist something for not much money but that we'll be able to triple out money on. I've still got mine and they're a neat looking knife and as its a gift I'll probably never get rid of it. I'll post a picture later and you can see if its the same thing or not.

I have 2 of those. Tourist trash my parents brought back from honeymoon in Mexico 1960

The cheap Mexican bowie knives have relatively thin blades and etching on the sides, rather than ingraving. If it is light weight and etched it is probably just a tourist bauble. I have found some serious bowie knives in places like Guadalajara with blades around 1/4-inch thick and no ingraving. These are worth using.

Thanks for the answers. My knife is 1/8 inch thick and looks similar but not quite what you have. I will try to post picture in a few days.
