Meyerco Paradox pliers problem

Gentlemen,

The pliers on my Paradox do not function adequately. When squeezed together, one can pull the lower plier jaw downward about 1/4 inch. In other words, the pliers can't compress/grab anything smaller than 1/4".

Does anyone know how to correct this problem? Thanks!

Don't know if it is the same problem or not but when I got mine the jaws of the pliers would not close up tight - about a 1/16" gap. I squeezed them together extra hard and a spring flew out of the pliers. Problem fixed. They are no longer spring loaded but are better for it. Try this at your own risk.

Looks like an internal part may be broken/bent. I guess you could send it back to the maker for warranty/repair?

The Paradox is pretty much junk. The blade itself is decent, but the rest leaves much to be desired.

the paradox was not much of a plier, OK as a knife I suppose, pliers on mine didn't hold up all that well, had a gap that made gripping small things impossible, now I just use the knife blade and relegated it to fruit cutting chores.

Thanks for your replies guys. I actually have two of 'em, one a replacement. Both have the same problem. It floors me that such a design is made and sold. What a waste of resources. It does have a nice knife blade though.

agreed. how can they put such a nice knife blade on a tool with such cruddy pliers? the first time I really cranked down on the pliers, something inside bent. now they dont close properly any more

The knife take-downs easily. On the lowest plier race I placed a 1/8" snippet of coat hanger rod, which limits the travel of the fixed plier jaw. Alternately, you could probably lengthen the upper race.
