What is your opinion of the Meyerco Speedster? I just got one in. I will admit that I never would have bought one if my distributor didn't have them on special. My initial impressions are quite positive. I haven't used it, but it seems to be a decent knife for the money. Anyone have any real world experience with them?

I'm a light user, so I don't have any "real world" review, but I do own a Speedster.

I got it because it was the cheapest ATS-34 I have seen, and I like Zytel (lite weight), and I really favor lockbacks.. I like their interpretation of Zytel. It's kind of a semi-transluscent grey, but nice, and feels strong. Thicker handles than Delica/Endura. The "hole" is a little rough, but it opens well. I find a rough hole opens better than the bead blast hole say, on my EZOut.

My complaints: I find the handle too curved for comfort. It really has a radical handle curve, it does not fit my hand well Also, the large groove that allows you to get to the opening hole looks good, but is not ergonomic - it is too small for two fingers and too large for one. the clip is very secure - too secure for any kind of speed draw. It will get hung up on th epocket every time.

Mine is plain edge, but one interesting thing that would make me want the serrated is that they are double-ground - it's serrated on both sides, which is very unusual.

I bought one with AUS-8 steel when they were being released in the tin box shaped like a car.

The things I liked about it:
Ergonomic handle
Blade shape
Easy to open
Inexpensive
Pocket clip designed for tip up carry.

The the things I did not like:
Plastic clip (I would have prefered a metal one)
The fact that you must remove the clip to make use of the lanyard hole.
The blade was not as sharp as I would have liked out of the box.
The "alternate serrations" ground on both sides of the blade. I found they did not cut very well.

I believe the new ones are being released with conventional serrations, so I assume they will cut better than the older models.
