this knife is a winner. its cheap but well made and the sheath is very secure. they dont cost more than 30 dollars or so. the handles are micarta, feels pretty good in the hand. this knife looks similar to the spyderco ronin.

How do you know, do you have one, since a few days ago it didn't sound like you did?
anyone try any of the new meyerco dirk pinkerton designs?? they look pretty good, and they are very low priced.

In the thread a few days ago a couple of folks were not overly impressed with the knives.

I got the Variable claw, and was... well, non-impressed. The handle wrapping was very loose and the kydex sheath horrid (sharp edges of the kydex, bad retention, instantly appearing scratches on the blade). .

Meyerco is pretty close to the bottom of the barrel, but they have some interesting designs and are probably good enough for emergency stash knives that will be used rarely, if at all.

Not spamming for Meyerco are you.........

That micarta looks...ehh...I've never been a form over function guy, but did it really come like that? The handle also looks a bit too squared, the scale thickness made me look twice. For ten bucks less you could get the CRKT Minimalist, Wharnie, micarta, nice handle if you keep the fob, and a decent for-the-price kydex.

i received one today, its a decent product

spamming for meyerco?? more like trying to bring a decent knife to the attention of knife lovers, the wharncliffe design and the spyderco ronin both being popular

any other questions

its much better than it looks in the pic, its pretty smooth. not that thick at all inmop.

I am glad to see these new designs from Meyerco as I find their in-house designs less than attractive.

They do, however, seem to have the heat treatment down. I have a Meyerco Buddy that I won in a raffle. Looks like this: http://www.gunweek.com/2002/pix0501arc/6.jpg

I got the plain version of this knife and was rather underwhelmed until I decided that I could try out the knife anyway. I had to reprofile the rather obtuse edge, but that is a problem with many knives.

Then I cut some stuff with it and even opened some canned beans. Despite the 420 steel the edge showed only minimal blunting, no rolling , and no chipping. I've seen worse in a S&W neck knife which was made of 440c steel. So it seems to me they know their HT at Meyerco.

I am definitely going to give this one a try and maybe also the Persian.

If somebody would get a Persian for Christmas, I would like to hear about how good or bad it is...

Is the description below the same model?

If so they are $18 wholesale $39.95 full retail per my dad. Not for sale here as a price reference.

Meyerco Dirk Pinkerton Wharning. 6" overall. 2 3/4" 7Cr17 stainless blade. Black micarta handles. Molded black Kydex belt sheath with neck chain. Designed by Dirk Pinkterton.

Looks pretty good but Rough Rider has better deals on fixed blade knives but no Wharncliffe blade style; although Rough Rider has one similar, a bit larger rounded blade with a finger hole in the blade for $9 wholesale its an awesome knife for the price.

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

This is my design. Thank you for the good words!:)

This is one of my favorite designs. It is a very versatile knife. The overall package is very small and thin. I think Meyerco did a great job on this knife. It is a lot of knife for the money.

There have been a few knives with handles that weren't finished very well. This has been addressed for the next run. As to the edge thickness....using steels like 420(fill in letters), AUS 6, 7CR17 on a thin or narrow point can result in a flimsy tip. So, the edge is left a little thicker. I will make it known it can be sharper out of the box.

I need to get busy and make some custom Wharnings!
