Looking through Craigs list to kill some time, I found this in Hayden Idaho, about 15 miles from Post Falls. Think I got a sweet deal and never thought I would find one of the grooved bolsters.

My question is, is the box correct for the knife, reading 300's post on the early 300's my understanding is the size later (after Groove) would become 301s.

The $13.90 price is not accurate, by several factors. But for a knife that is just shy of 50 years, not bad

Grats.. I almost bought that one... but since I have trouble selling anything I buy..... ;p

Dave,

Just think, next year you will have a 50 year old knife.

Thanks for all the replays,
Next year 50 years old, it was made when I was in middle school, carried a pocket knife to school everyday. Those were good old days

Craig. I do have that on my favorites, just didn't know if the first had a number at that time.

No number, guess the plans had not got there yet. I am guessing here but if you look at a Old Timer 80T, I think, you can see the family heritage.

Anyone buying them online beware of loose blades, make the seller swear the blades don't wiggle. A person who cares for their knives would be able to use this model and pass it on, but if you bare (maybe bear is better) down cutting cable and prying exhaust heads off you WILL loosen the blade.

I was 11 when this was introduced, and yes, every boy and some girls had at least a pen knife or a scout knife in their pocket. No issues because we knew if we took it out and were seen we would be sent to front office and the long wooden paddle would be applied on our backside and usually also a belt when we got home. One trip and you were good for a several years. And you lost your knife.

Thanks Craig.
I purchased my dad a 303 in 1972 at Great Lakes Naval Station, I do believe it was a schrade, he ended up in the first year of so sending it to Buck twice for repair, After the second time he received a nice letter from Buck that I wish I had. My dad I do not believe ever missed used any tool, knives included, I still have the knife but no box or letter.
