Tomar's has the full-size Becker Micarta handles on backorder, and many other places are sold out as well. Do we know if what will be offered in December (the date Tomar's is giving for an ETA) will be the same as what is out now, or are there some changes in the works?

Speaking of changes, when do we see the 2011 offerings? Any more solid plans for new sheaths? Tooj? Ethan?

it's probably going to be the same. change means coming up with new programs for the CNC machines, and other factors, and that takes a lot of time.

now, eventually, maybe, they'll come up with colored micarta or perhaps alternate color handles in the same original material. that'd be fun.

the 2011 offerings? well, they'll arrive likely for announcement or appearance at SHOT 2011 (which i MAY be able to attend last minute, maybe not)... or by Blade 2011 (which is a big show for the knife guys esp)...

there's going to be a lot of output from KaBar soon. just not what you might expect, i would guess. surprise!

Patience will pay off though. I like the grivory, but the micarta feels really good. I'm glad I went with it!!!

Both the micarta and grivory feel good. But IMO, grivory is better for abusive work (chopping). I have micarta onmy BK-2, but next time I go camping, I'll probably switch back to the grivory.

I'm fine with the grivory. I know a lot of people complain that it is slick, but I've never had a problem with it. That being said, I love my BK11 micarta and want to get some micarta to dress up a BK7, and maybe swap it out to the BK2 when I am hiking light and want to show off.

I agree with the chopping statement. The grivory doesn't seem to get as hot. It is nice having the option to switch back and forth as desired though...

I put the grivory back on my BK2 and put micarta on the BK9, it seems to absorb shock more. I do more choppin' with my BK9 than spoon carving, so.....
