For those of you who make a LOT of micarta handled knives... how do you buy? Bulk somehow from somewho?

I don't use very much micarta (just yet) but I've noticed Masecraft.com has a good supply and is cheaper than Texas Knife Supply

For "bulk" the only place I would recommend is Masecraft! If I remember correctly, they offer 24"x36" sheets, and if you break down the cost, you realize a huge savings over buying handle sets or smaller pieces.

If you have a decent bandsaw with the right blade, I don't see how you could go wrong buying sheets or slabs. The bigger the better, if it's a style/color you're going to use often.

If you don't have a good bandsaw (like me) it's probably not worth the extra work. Ever spend an afternoon cutting scales with a hacksaw and Dremel? Not fun.

Sheffield Knife Supply sells it in 12" x 15" sheets. I cut mine on a tablesaw.

Tracy at USA Knife Supply and Chuck Bybee at Alpha. Good variety and good prices on G-10 and Micarta.
