Micarta care?

I recently recieved an Ontario RAT-5, and both me and my hands love it. A lot of cutting chores are lined up for this sucker, and no doubt it'll get dirty. I seldom fuss over handles, but since the RAT-5 is my first micarta knife (once again my hands love the stuff) I'm wondering how I go about cleaning them; is it as simple as rinsing with water, or does it require more maintenance than that? Thanks in advance I guess.

Micarta is pretty much impervious to anything you will get on it during "normal" usage. Clean it off with soap and water, you can't hurt it.

And if they get too gunked up, just take a scrubby pad and warm water and a little dish soap and scrub away. Thats how I cleaned many a handle on my older Busse knives.

Canvas micarta will soak up oils and some thicker liquids, but its not hard to scrub it out with warm water and soap. Just beware stains like some berries, clays, and leather dye :o, yea, leather dye will sink in nice and deep and WONT come out. But I do have one of the only camo micarta knife handles! :p
