I noticed that my new Rat Daddys' origional handles were a bit dirty / stained and did a search online here for how to clean em up. I did a search and a bunch of threads on the subject popped up.
I opened the first one and theree was a post saying toothpaste and a toothbrush.

A Mr. Clean eraser will work, you can pick them up in the market, they work like a big eraser, they are used for cleaning up scuff marks on a kitchen floors.
works like a charm,

Also something else that will work,is toothpaste put it on the handle and take a tooth brush to it :)

So I did. Here are the scales before:

Here they are after. I used a liberal amount of Colgate Optic White. Now my scales smell nice too.

I can probably give em another cleaning for effect, maybe later.

Thx for looking.

Nice. I'll use that later on my Becker Micarta.

Also, that works out for cleaning shoes. Scrub your midsoles and any leather with a toothbrush and toothpaste. I'm talking about sneakers here, not nice leather. Use saddle soap for the good stuff.

I've always used those green scrub pads and water. Maybe a little soap if the dirt is heavy. Works every time.

Toothpaste works great! Ive been using to clean blades for years. I prefer more basic baking soda kinds for knives.

Toothpaste, eh? I'll have to give it a try.
I use a toothbrush with warm water and mild hand or dish soap and that works nicely too. I guess whatever lifts the oils out of the micarta would do the trick. :)

Warm / hot water. Soap hand or liquid dish variety. Scrub pad or plastic gun cleaning bruUsh .....results were always spectacular as much as spectacular slabs can be new. On blades I have sprayed oven cleaner to get deep down in the coating Probably be just as good on the handles

Rob.... You feeling okay? Only 4 photos!?

Hah, my bad I was posting pictures on Rat Chat and their max is 4.... I will remedy this by posting a whole bunch of pictures here later!!!

I found toothpaste with a green scrubby pad works best for cleaning ceramic rods.

I always just sprayed my ceramic rods with aero kroil and wipe with paper towel. Good as new

And it's the best stuff in the world where you need it to wick in and loosen rusty bolts and stuff, better than the "stuff" marketed for that, and it also works for copper and lead fouling in bores.

Industrial lubricant...I use it as a protective coating on rust prone knives, gun cleaning and lubing, everywhere wd40 and more......

Looks good. I usually use warm water and soap as well, but toothpaste is no joke. Brush really helps a lot. Should be in every BOB or any kind of hiking bag though. I like the small travel size. Great for insect bites, bad stings, defogger for any goggles-make your front headlights on your car/truck look new. Cleans and polishes anything from chrome to jewelry.
