I have a ka bar/ Becker bk11 and was thinking about investing in some micarta, the problem is I carry iwb and didn't want to spend $30 on something that is to thick. So does any body have the thickness? and now that they have the scales would they buy them again? what's the grip like? Thanks.

The grip is awesome with the micarta! I couldn't believe the difference it made, like holding a different blade. The scales don't add that much bulk to it at all. I don't have the specs at the moment... I think they are well worth the price, or if you have the tools you should try making your own. :)

Alright thanks but I still wish someone had the measurements . They should really tell you this before you by them anyway.

Why not buy some micarta in your preferred thickness from a knifemaker's supply shop and make them yourself? It's not too hard. Or you can get the stock micarta, and if they're too thick, just sand em down to your desired thickness.

Okay thanks for the quick responses, I think I'm gonna buy and sand down if I need to. Nothing wrong with being a little custom right?

Sounds like fun. For the record, I can't see the thickness of the factory micarta causing a problem. If I liked my BK11 without the scales, then I LOVE it with the scales.

Mod your BK11!! Wanted the same slim profile to remain after putting on scales, so I decided to do it myself. Black canvas micarta with 3/16th micarta rod pins.

Measurement is: 5/8" at the thickest part (which is the center swell), tapers to 5/16" in front, & about 1/2" or slightly less in rear. Hope this helps. The micarta grips are well worth it. Makes it a whole different feel. MUCH better than no grips.
