Parallelogram ish is a shape isn’t it?

I have a buck 110 I would like to put blue layered color Micarta or Richlite scales on. I want the layers to show, so I don’t want it install it flat as is from factory. Would there be a reason not to sand the side glued to knife at an angle prior to gluing. Then sand the top side flat which should show layers off a bit?

Welcome Chris. Fill out your profile so we know where you live and a bit about you.

Cutting or sanding on a bias is commonly done.
One way is to take a block of micarta and cut it lengthwise diagonally corner to corner. This makes two triangular scales. The cut sides are sanded flat/smooth and then the angled sides are sanded flat to make the surfaces parallel. The layers will show quite nicely.
The same bias cut can be done on some figured woods that have a more distinct pattern on certain angles. Black and White Ebony is one.

Thank you, I keep finding slabs of material 3/8 is the thickest and I need 3/16 finished height to fit my Buck. That’s why I was thinking of sanding at an angle.
