I have not handled the Becker Micarta grips

Are the micarta grips like sold on the KaBar site the exact same profile, fit, feel, thickness as the stock grivorys ? Do they fit proud of the metal rather than the metal proud like they got sanded to much?

I just got a junglas and like the micarta on this blade, Like to try some on my beckers

Are the ones sold on the Kabar site the best to get?

Who makes them for Kabar? ...(curious) Ive seen them on ebay too

They're great. Perfect fit. Pretty sure they're the exact dimensions of stock handles. May be a tad thicker, maybe.

Reason I ask is I bought some big becker wood handles and they are sanded to much, to much wood removed, and the metal sticks out above, proud, of the edge of the wood, top and bottom.

I have a two sets of wood scales from tommy the who on the bay. They are a perfect fit metal might stick out a tad but not enough to notice. Its so minor your dont feel it with blade in hand just if you run your finger across the spine. I have yet to try micarta. Jist me experience with good wood.

I will say that it depends on what day the knife came from the factory.....I have Micarta (and stock Grivory) where the tang sits a little proud, and some that don't. Even though they are factory made doesn't make them all machined to exact tolerances. That said, I've never had a problem with it, just....it's noticeable. Feels fine. Actually, I've got a couple , ah....pricier knives where it's done on purpose....the tang is crowned and sits proud of the scales a little. The Chris Reeve fixed blades come to mind - they ALL have tangs that are proud of the scales. Spartan, my Gerber LHR (Larsen, Harsey, Reeve)....there are others. Let's say it's not something I worry much about. But the Micarta scales are sweet, regardless....OI just picked up another pair off the Exchange. I have made my own scales and really like wood......but my second choice (and sometimes first since I don't have to do any work to custom fit them) are the factory Micarta. They are really top notch, IMO.
