Got these finished a week or two ago, and I'm really liking them. I think they came out pretty decent for a first attempt.

I absolutely hated the grips that came on both of them, and after the fourth store-bought set for the Smith, I figured custom was the only way to go. Too bad I'm broke. So for about eighteen dollars in materials and way too much time with a set of shoddy half-round files, i'm a happy man.

Hey, if you're broke, how about making some for sale. I have a blackhawk, gp100, and a redhawk. Some slabs on the kimber .45 would look good too. I bet they would sell like hotcakes on the ruger forums. Oh yeah, the ones on your blackhawk and smith look great. Nice job!

that is really cool. always wanted natural micarta on my sp101. do you think youll notice the harder/denser material in felt recoil? just curious. id imagine going from rubberish to micarta may have some effect.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like them. They feel great under recoil compared to the originals. The S&W had most recently been wearing a set of the slim wooden factory things from the seventies, and these are wider and more rounded along the backstrap. I've got fairly small hands, so I never liked the bulky plastic grips, and I absolutely can't stand finger grooves. Even shooting .357 +P they're pretty comfy.
As for selling them, probably not gonna happen. These are the only two guns I own, and i have no idea how to get a fit for any other models without people sending me their weapons.
