Micarta handle fit question

Thanks! Think I'm gonna strip it and put them on it... wonder if anyone grinds the saw teeth in the back spine like the original design?

There's something to be said for a stripped knife, If you strip the whole thing then you gotta think about rust under the handles and ways to mitigate that. You could leave the finish under the handles, paste wax or just raw dog it and live with rust, which really isn't that big of a deal.

I stand corrected, it WAS the BK8 I was thinking of. Yeah, I'm going to leave the finish under the handle and just strip the blade and probably patina it, then paste wax it. Would look nice with the micarta handles, which I like better than the issue ones anyway. Or once I change the grips, I might just leave well enough alone...

I’d leave it alone. Very few 8s made.

I think those saw teeth on the BK10 would be pretty hot tho... don't know how well they would work, but would look cool as hell!

I new bladite had one, I assume some went to the Govt. for some kind of military trial.
Saw teeth suck on a knife, I don't understand the dynamics of why they suck, but they do. It seems like you saw cut about 1/4 down and then your progress comes to a standstill. Maybe because the sawdust doesn't clear out of the teeth?

And you can't put your hand on the spine, and thin saw blades have to remove less material, and they are potentially massive stress risers... Yeah, they look "mean" if that's appealing, but it's mostly mean to the user.

Tho I'd totally lurk a handmade saw subforum!
Even got the Diston sharpening vise. Maybe two...

Be careful where you stab, because they can get hung up on the ribs with All those teeth....
Best if you go straight into the belly, then go up.

You all are sounding a lot like that guy from the KA-BAR boards. What’s next, talk of “social difficulties”? lol :p
