My first post here - greetings!

I've seen the Becker Bk-2 in hard use photos for so long that I'll have to buy one. I've seen pics of them with rubber bands (large) on the handles and I assume that's to soften up the grip.

I'd like a BK-2 with a couple of canvas micarta scales that screw together and form a new replacement to the polymer handle. Are these available. Any other opinions are welcome! :)

Yes kabar offers nice micarta grips for their entire line of beckers. I just ordered my bk2 and that's next on my list... and maybe some g10 to try making my own scales:)

Couldn't be easier. Pick the knife retailer of your choice, and the same ones that carry the BK2 will likely carry KA-BAR's micarta scales as well. Plenty of recent threads on what to do with the micarta once you got it... mine were pretty rough, so I filed, then sanded, then dyed, then sealed.

Nice sheath man - that's not stock is it? Can I ask where you picked it up at? Thanks! Send me a PM if it's not a trusted vendor here.

I have the factory micarta scales on my BK-7 and find they are a great compliment to an already great blade (the best blade in Becker's lineup, IMHO). These scales are available directly from Ka-Bar or from retailers like Tomars Ka-Bars (where I got mine).

The factory grivory scales are OK, but the micarta scales just go a long way towards completing the concept of the BK-7 as a well thought-out, no nonsense and virtually indestructible field knife.

Thanks guys. I'll be getting mine in Nov. for my birthday. I appreciate the info so I can have the grips and a good field sheath lined up in advance.

Got mine over at Tomars site. Sanded and buffed. Put them on in about 3 minutes. Could not be easier.

The micarta and service at Tomars has been great IMO.
The stock sheath is a little tight at first.
The aftermarket sheath pictured is a Chestnut ridge knife shop.

For the BK2 the stock sheath has retention down. Like crazy down. Like you better start lifting weights to get that knife out, and that is without the little snap that goes around the handle. You can ditch the belt loop portion and just rock the base sheath portion and never have any problems at all. Once the non-glass ones are fully out, expect to see a lot of stock sheaths on BK2's.

No doubt on the retention. I had to brace the sheath in-between my feet the first few times to deploy the blade. It will never come out on its own.

DANG! Too hard for me. Sounds like I'll be visiting Tomars & Chestnut Ridge knife shop for my stuff. Thanks for all the intel!
