Micarta Handle Replacement

Hey guys! How do I replace the micarta handle scales on my Ontario Ranger Afghan? Thing is I wanna mod it so the handle comes up further and I have no idea how to go about it...Please get back to me. Thanks a load!

its not that hard to do. what tools do you have to work with first?

This is gonna sound lame, but I don't have any. I know nothing about it or where to start. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Like Richard said, it's not too hard.

Here's the basic list:
-Allen key for the screws
-New handle material
-Drill (drill press preferred)
-Drill bits for the through holes and countersinks
-Files and/or rasps
-Sandpaper

Optional:
-Coping saw or bandsaw for rough shaping
-Belt sander or spindle sander for profiling and shaping

The basic steps are:
-Roughly shape scales
-Drill
-Countersink
-Complete profiling
-Contour
-Finish sanding
-Apply oil/wax if desired
