I just picked up a full-size Copperlock from the Lowe's up the street. The scales are blaze orange micarta... I've never seen a Case knife with micarta handles, and even after extensive web searching, I haven't been able to find another.

It's not CV, just stainless, but I think it's somewhat novel. I like it, but not as well as the natural handle scale materials... Anybody know anything about this? Dot pattern tells me it's from 2004 ( X . X on top row, X X X on bottom row). How come I can't find them anywhere on the web? I bought it for a user... Should I keep it nice instead?

peace.

Shepard Hills cutlery had an exclusive run of canvas micarta peanuts a few years ago, it was a neat idea in a way, but they weren't all that attractive in my opinion. Micarta certainly wouldn't be out of place on a slipjoint, but this particular type of micarta was.

IIRC they did a complete series in the Orange G-10 last year. Not limited or anything but I agree that they have not been around much. They have them at my Lowe's as well and if they're selling them they can't be too rare.

I say use it, that's what you bought it for ;)

Excellent, thanks for the input.

I figured that if I found it at a big commercial store like Lowe's, it couldn't be that spectacular. It's already seen some good use, and will continue to be a trusty sidekick.

I like my Chestnut Bone trapper more in terms of looks (and blade steel, obviously), but this one has a lock, so I think it will follow me around for a while. ;)

peace.

I have one. It's a nice knife. Very pocketable for it's size and packs a lot of thin blade (seems to have a very useful profile).

It's a tad big for the sheeple though. And that pretty shiny 420HC sure does flash when you open it.
