I am getting a custom kydex sheath for my bk7. It was designed for the factory bk7. I want to get the micarta handles designed by KABAR but I am not sure if they will fit with the kydex sheath. Any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome to BladeForums. While sheath related, I think you'll get a quicker and more thorough answer in the Becker forum, so I'll move it over there.

You should have no problem, If by chance, it'll be tighter, you can sand down scales easily.

Why not just specify with the maker that you want the sheath to fit the micarta handles?

@Kiah thanks for the help.
@bghorn thanks ok I might try that.
@hhmoore thanks for the advice but I'm just not totally sure if I want the handles yet.

Bobby the good thing with kydex is just heat a little and you can reshape to tighten or make loose.

WELCOME!

You've come to the right place for all things BK.

No, there is no 'special oven' for kydex. Most makers use basic toaster ovens and heat guns.

To adjust the fit of a kydex sheath to new scales, you may only need to heat up the opening of the sheath with a hair blow dryer, shove the knife in, press to fit, and let it cool. Several YT vids on this subject.

@TravisH thank you for the advice, I really didn't know how that worked. I'll be watching videos to figure out the best way to do it. Thanks again

My guess is it'll fit no problem. BK&T Micarta are spec'd as the same overall dimensions of current stock Grivory. So, unless your 7 is an older Camillus made BK&T (slightly thicker Grivory on those), new Kydex and Micarta on your 7 should be fine. In my experience, Kydex also "breaks in" a little with use. And adjusting it if you find you have to (even tho I don't think you will) is a simple enough process. Let's see some pics of your setup when it's put together, tho - and welcome to our little digital campfire.
