HiYA,

Is there a colour difference between Black Canvas and Black Linen? Or does hand shaping vs machine shaping give a different coloured end result?

IMO Black Canvas when new, takes on a slight sage green tinge but I have seen other canvas type handles that are very charcoal grey and yet they are both called Black???

Can anyone help me on this?

Thanks in advance.

I just re read your post, you said black linen, I read black Paper, I need to go to bed

Black canvas is more of a charcoal grey to tan with a greenish tint depending on vintage, Neither of them are very "black".Black Paper and Black G-10 are the darkest.

Hey Jimmyjones, I'm curious why you call that pattern "rope cut." Where did you hear that from? I'm trying to get as much information as I can for some Busse encyclopedia project... wondering if "rope cut" is the proper name for that.
Do you know what that wavy pattern in your image of a black linen is called?

Thanks!

The wavy pattern was called Raptor on the EDC handles (AD, MrS, LrMrS...), there used to be a handle section on the main Busse site which described the patterns. I've been using the wayback machine, but haven't found it yet.

The rope pattern was also referred to as the Gen 3 handle, it was on the SJ, PH, BAIII & ABA and I think on the NICKs

Sorry for recycling images, not meaning to offend anyone.

Yes to all of the above. It was also used on the Euro 4, original ARK (Air Rescue Knife), Public Defender, and Groove Master.

One of the interesting things about the BOSS Jack series is that the angle of the rope cut is reversed to the original. Instead of sloping up, front to back, it slopes down.
